DARREN BARBER

Founder and personal trainer

Darren set up Barber's Gym after many years in the fitness industry working in commercial and corporate gyms, and training clients independently from local parks in the East London area. Wanting to focus on a project of his own Barber's Gym was born in 2012, and with it Darren's fitness philosophies and ethos came to fruition without compromise. Training with purpose to get real life improvements for everyday and specific sporting achievement. Functional strength and conditioning needed to not only increase performance, improve health and wellness but also challenge your mindset.

Darren qualified with a degree in Sport Rehabilitation and Sport Science back in 2003 and from then has amassed a wealth of experience and knowledge in fitness programming, strength and conditioning exercise techniques including kettlebell training, power lifting and olympic weightlifting. He has attained his certifications through multiple sporting bodies including training with the infamous GYM JONES under Mark Twight. In recent years focus has come to climbing and coaching climbing with qualifications from the British Mountaineering Council BMC and Mountain Training Academy.

Sport has always played a significant part in Darren's lifestyle having played rugby throughout his formative years, giving way to more extreme sports in the way of skating, snowboarding and competing at national level in cable wakeboarding. An avid climber he is now focusing again on the big outdoors and uses the gym as his platform to take bigger steps into the mountains.

 Artur Paulins is an adventurer; always seeking for ways to get more out of every aspect of life.

He is renowned for his approach to the exploration of mental and physical performance improvement; personally going through numerous challenges and experiments with different practices, diets and exercise systems to better both himself and those he works with.

It is Artur’s passion to combine his knowledge of functional training, movement, yoga, breathing and cold therapy with his decade of martial arts training and competition experience; creating a simple, accessible way in which anyone can learn and improve to feel happier, stronger and healthier in their every day lives.

Artur is also a founder of the N.ICE Collective and certified Wim Hof Method instructor leading winter expeditions.

Kole has been running long distances for fifteen years both competitively and recreationally, having completed six full marathons and twenty-five half-marathons. As an England Athletic certified Coach in Running Fitness, Kole uses technique drills to reinforce good form in order to circumnavigate running injuries and keep clients running. Considered, sport-specific, strength and conditioning programming is a vital part of Kole's approach to coaching the skill involved in not just running but also more general well-being. As a former set builder, Kole has a strong understanding of the merits of functional fitness for the workplace and living a healthy life full to the brim with activities! Specific interests include; running, yoga, and, strength and conditioning.

When he's not out and about socialising or lounging on the sheepskin at home, you can catch him on The Down's playing ball and doing his daily workout.
